In the UK, crypto is not regulated like other financial services, but there are rules related to promotions and investor communications.

The process is aimed at retail investors who may be new to crypto, and to cover all areas of digital assets. This email is to outline the steps that are required for Universe Money to onboard you as a client using crypto services.

1: Cooling Off Period
Before you start trading with us, we must offer you a 24 hour “cooling off” period prior to any trade. This pause is designed to help you take the time to decide whether investing in crypto is right for you.
We will notify you of the start and end of the period.
During this time, other aspects around compliance and onboarding can be completed.

2: Personal Risk Warning
We will send you a personal risk warning – this will include a link to approved information about the risks involved with crypto assets.You will be asked to actively confirm that you wish to proceed.

3: Type of Investor
You will be asked what type of investor you are – either:
– Restricted Investor
– High Net Work Investor
As the crypto services will be provided to your company, the responses will relate to the company not you personally.

4: Crypto Appropriateness Assessment
Finally, you will be asked to take a short assessment of multiple-choice questions. The aim is to ensure that you understand the potential risks of crypto assets.
